Kevin Woods is a music producer, mixing engineer, and immersive audio specialist known for his cutting edge work in spatial audio. Currently an immersive mix engineer at Sony, he has worked on major projects for artists such as James Brown, Camila Cabello, H.E.R., Leon Bridges, Chloë, Salt-N-Pepa, Joey Bada$$, RZA, Lupe Fiasco, A$AP Ferg, Awich, and many other artists. His expertise in immersive mixing has played a pivotal role in advancing next generation audio experiences.
Kevin spent his early years in the Cayman Islands before moving to South Carolina at age 11. His passion for music started early, playing guitar and hand drums before developing a deep fascination with digital production, recording, and mixing.
By the age of 14, Kevin was already producing and mixing for independent artists, quickly building a reputation for his technical skill and creative approach. During college, he expanded into music education, teaching production and recording techniques at high schools while simultaneously mixing hundreds of songs for local artists. He also produced long-form audio projects, including seven 45-minute podcasts for Street Poets Inc. in Los Angeles.
In 2022, Kevin joined Sony in a technical support role, where his skill, curiosity, and passion for immersive audio rapidly set him apart. He soon transitioned into assistant engineering and ultimately into a lead immersive mixing role. At Sony, Kevin has worked on genre-defining projects across hip-hop, R&B, pop, and legacy catalog, consistently pushing the boundaries of spatial sound design.
His ability to merge artistic intent with advanced immersive technologies has made him a key contributor in shaping the future of next generation audio formats.
